6 teachers of PUST receive research grants
6 teachers of Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST) have received special research grants from the Ministry of National Science and Technology for the financial year 2023-2024. This special research grant will be provided from the sector titled 'Science and Technology Program' under the Ministry.
On Monday (December 18), the matter was informed through a circular signed by Bidyut Chandra Aich, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology. This year, 696 research projects have been shortlisted for grants.
A total of six researchers have been selected for the grant; two each from the EECE, Physics and Mathematics departments of the university for a total of three projects. For a project, Professor of EEC Department Dr. Sheikh Russell Al Ahmed has been nominated in the main researcher category. Whereas an Assistant Professor Dr. Fatin Ishraq has been nominated in the Associate Researcher category. For another project, the Associate Professor of the Department of Materials Science Dr. Md. Lokman Ali has been nominated in the main researcher category while Professor Dr. Md. Khairul Alam has been nominated in the Assistant Researcher category.
Meanwhile, the Associate Professor of Mathematics Dr. Md. Noor Alam has been nominated in the chief researcher category for another project; while Dr. Md. Azizur Rahman has been nominated in the Assistant Researcher category of the same project. The nominated teachers are supposed to get Tk. 2 lakh 50 thousand from the Ministry of Science and Technology for each research.
It is worth noting that, the special research grant program started from 1977-1978 fiscal year for the research of 'Science and Technology' projects under the Ministry of Science and Technology. These grants are awarded to MS, MPhil, PhD and post-doctoral level students and researchers studying/researching in public universities/research institutes.
